OnTheSpot
DVC Machinevision’s OnTheSpot is an advanced vision-guided robotics solution that locates and measures products on a conveyor belt and transmits their position and orientation to the robot. In addition, the products are assessed for quality and the presence of defects. This enables high-speed picking robots to pick up only the good products from a moving conveyor belt.

OnTheSpot combines high-quality 2D and 3D cameras with powerful image processing and real-time communication with robot controllers. This allows products to be processed flexibly, sorted and placed in trays, crates or other packaging with a fixed orientation.
The system utilises advanced vision tools for reliable object detection, measuring, positioning and quality assessment. Objects can be recognised at any position on the conveyor and in any orientation.
To determine a product’s quality, bespoke algorithms are developed to sort items based on shape, colour, dimensions or other characteristics or deviations. The customer can define the desired characteristics themselves.
Realtime
The system sends coordinates and product quality data to the robot controller in real time, enabling products to be picked up accurately whilst the line continues to move. The robot controller is thus able to optimise the subsequent process, for example when determining the layout and sequence of products within packaging. Communication with the robot controllers can be adapted as required. Various industry standards are available.
Delivery and support
DVC Machinevision handles the supply, integration, installation and commissioning of OnTheSpot. Our staff provide training to operators and technical support staff and offer – where necessary – remote support during office hours on working days. This ensures not only the vision solution itself, but also its careful integration into the overall production process.
Maintenance, remote diagnostics and fine-tuning with other line components can also form part of the overall system support.
