Packaging inspection:
Seal and Label Inspection

DVC Machinevision’s Seal and Label Inspection is an advanced visual inspection solution for checking labels and seal edges on packaging. Thanks to advanced camera technology and intelligent software, defects are reliably detected, even at high line speeds.

The system is available in three configurations: label inspection, seal inspection or a combined solution for both label and seal inspection.

200 packages per minute
In-line control
Easy to operate

The seal inspection assesses the integrity of the seal and checks – in the case of sealing plates with a patterned structure – for sealing defects. The system detects contaminants in the seal, such as product residues in the sealing area and film cuttings. It also checks the minimum seal width, depending on the film type.

The label inspection assesses labels on both the top and bottom of the packaging. The system checks labels for, amongst other things, production and use-by dates, 1D and 2D codes, logos, allergens and batch numbers. It checks for presence, accuracy, print quality and position.

Optionally, the system can check for misalignment of the film and the position of the film relative to the product logo. In the case of transparent packaging, the system can also check whether a package contains a product. Furthermore, the system can check for warping of the top film.

Packaging

The Seal and Label Inspection system is suitable for tray-sealed, vacuum-packed, skin-packed and thermoformed packaging. The packaging can be rectangular, square, round or oval.

Dimensions

  • Product height: between 15 mm and 60 mm; camera position can be adjusted during installation.
  • Product width and length: 171 mm x 500 mm.

The Seal and Label Inspection system is a fully automated in-line vision system, developed for 24/7 use in industrial production environments. The system can be easily integrated into existing production lines.

Product-specific inspection recipes can be easily set up via the user-friendly interface. Data, such as heatmaps of seal defects, are displayed on the main screen to improve production. Packaging is assessed against pre-set criteria, and rejected products can be automatically removed from the line via a linked ejection system.

The system utilises high-quality cameras, optimised lighting and powerful vision software, enabling both transparent and certain printed packaging to be inspected accurately.

The system is easy to maintain and designed to allow for quick replacement of parts. Critical components are supplied in a spare parts kit, ensuring that downtime is kept to a minimum. Spare parts are always available and in stock. Our staff will carry out the installation, provide training and – should the need arise – offer remote support during office hours on working days.

Seal and Label Inspection: all-in-one solutions with strong support

Our machine vision systems are stand-alone machine vision solutions that operate independently in production lines. Both solutions have been developed by our own engineers and have been in use for many years in demanding practical situations. They guarantee extreme accuracy, also at high speeds. Is there a reason for ejection? The software will provide insightful data and statistics.

Our engineers are only too pleased to advise you about the possibilities for label and seal inspections in your production line. Together we ensure that the implementation and taking into service takes place smoothly. If, in practice, you encounter issues, then you can always count on our extensive support, remotely or on location.
